Continuing the Battle for Christ - Week 2

How should we respond to persecution?

A brother in Christ, living in Laos, said this, If you follow Christ, you will get persecution, so why do you try to avoid it?” (The One Year Pray for the Persecuted Bible).

It’s time that we recognize that persecution is inevitable and prepare to speak out despite it.  As Christians continue to advance the Gospel around the world, despite danger, torture, and imminent death, people continue to see the love of Christ through their witness.  Pray that they will be bold so that others will hear the Truth and be saved.

“Pray also for me, that whenever I open my mouth, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel” (Ephesians 6:19 NIV84).

How should we pray for the lost?

Remember that it is sin, not God, that condemns people.  God desires that they turn from their lives of sin and evil.  That must be our prayer as well.

See them as God’s creation, precious in His eyes.  They must also be precious to us.

            Pray for repentance!

“Say to them, ‘As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign Lord, I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that they turn from their ways and live. Turn! Turn from your evil ways! Why will you die, O house of Israel?” (Ezekiel 33:11 NIV84).

Leadership Prayer Focus This Week: Teachers

“My son, preserve sound judgment and discernment, do not let them out of your sight” (Proverbs 3:21 NIV84).

We continue our prayers for leadership by praying for the teachers of this nation.  Next to our parents, they have the greatest impact on our children.

Pray:   That they will see their position as a sacred calling.

That they will have both wisdom and patience in performing their responsibilities.

That they will see the students as individuals, not just names on a roster.

That they correct with both firmness and gentleness.

That they will be encouraging to their students.

For all our leaders, pray that if they do not already know Christ, they will accept Him as Lord.  For those who do know Christ, pray that they will stand firm on His Truth and His Word, never compromising it or minimizing it.

“Pray continuously” (I Thessalonians 5:17 NIV84)
