Continuing the Battle for Christ - Week 1

How should we respond to persecution?

Give thanks that we are counted worthy to bear Christ’s name.

Pray for strength and stamina for those who are being persecuted.

Pray that the persecutors will see Christ in the lives of the persecuted.

“Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you” (Matthew 5:11, 12 NIV84).

How should we pray for the lost?

Remember that God desires everyone to be saved.

Look past any differences of opinion and see the person created in God’s image.

Ask God to open your eyes to those around you who need Jesus.

“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness.  He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance” (I Peter 3:9 NIV84).

Leadership Prayer Focus This Week: Parents

“Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it” (Proverbs 22:6 NIV84).

We begin our prayers for leadership by praying for the parents of this nation.  They have the most important, but perhaps also the most difficult responsibility.

Pray:   That they will teach their children about Christ.

  For Patience and Wisdom

That they will give their time and attention to their children.

That they will be willing to discipline, when necessary, while showing love.

That they will encourage their children.

“Pray continuously” (I Thessalonians 5:17 NIV84)
