Day 6: Confess to Him
Day 6:
Confess to Him
Read and Meditate on: Ezra 9: 4 - 15
James
5: 16
I
John 1: 8 - 10
Since
the days of Adam, we have been filled with a sin-nature that separates us from
our God. He is a righteous God. He requires absolute moral perfection. Yet here we are. Like the Israelites, our sins “…are higher
than our heads…”[1] but He
gives us mercy and grace.
Our God
is a merciful God. He grants us freedom
from our sins, but He requires us to confess those sins and repent of
them. Only then can we be truly free.
Take
this day as an opportunity to examine yourself.
Move past the idea that you are “good.”
You are not “good” – at least not in God’s eyes. You are a sinner! Confess that to Him. Search the innermost part of your being and
tell Him who you really are. Confess
your doubts, your anger, and your resentment. Tell Him about your lack of
forgiveness, your wrong motives, your selfishness…. The list could go on, and those are only the
sins of “commission.” Don’t forget the
sins of “omission.” He knows your hidden
sins, but He is waiting for you to recognize them, confess them and repent from
them. Only then will you truly be free
from that baggage of guilt. Confess and
be free!
